- The Foundation for Shamanic Studies offers a transformative course called Shamanism and the Spirits of Nature™ that invites participants to embark on a journey into the heart of the natural world. This course is designed for those who wish to deepen their connection with the Earth’s spirits, explore nature’s wisdom, and learn to live in harmony with their environment.
- Under the guidance of our esteemed Guest Faculty, Kerri Husman, participants will delve into the sacred relationships between humans and the natural world. Kerri’s expertise will lead you through journeying and direct revelation techniques, opening the door to the rich tapestry of the spiritual realm. This unique opportunity to learn from Kerri is one of the many compelling aspects of this course. Its holistic approach, informative lectures, and specific journey instructions, combined with direct engagement with nature through exploration walks, rituals, and communal sharing, create an immersive experience that fosters a profound sense of interconnectedness and reverence for the Earth, enhancing personal and spiritual growth.
- The course is about individual growth and community building, with the people, the benevolent land spirits, and the environment around you. It is also about building power and learning to work and heal in new and unique ways in the middle world. With a focus on empowerment and self-discovery, the course equips individuals with practical tools to navigate their spiritual paths while contributing positively and respectfully to the environment. Students leave the course with valuable insights and practices. Even more importantly, they become part of a strong support network of like-minded individuals who share a passion for ecology, spirituality, and healing. This sense of community fosters a feeling of being welcomed and included, enhancing the overall experience of the course. Join this enchanting journey and embrace the wisdom of the natural world, allowing the Spirits of Nature to guide you toward a more fulfilling and harmonious existence. Whether you are relatively new to shamanic practices or have experience in the field, this course promises an unforgettable adventure that will inspire and transform your life.

FSS Workshop FAQs:
- More Details on what to bring and expectations:
- Rattle and/or drum
- No, you do not need both, but you will likely want to use both. If you don’t have a rattle, pill or vitamin bottles work just fine, and I will have a few extra rattles and a couple of drums for use during the workshop if you forget.
- Notebook and pen or pencils for notetaking. No electronic recording of any type or the use of any devices for typing are allowed. This is an FSS requirement. No notetaking is required at all; you can just listen.
- Eye covering for journeying. Blindfold, bandana, Mindfold®, Sleep mask, or Eyeco (for those with dry eye).
- Comfortable clothing and warm socks and/or indoor slippers. We will all have our shoes off in the meeting room to participate in the circle. Many people wear sweats or yoga pants. Comfort is essential. Even if it is summer, bring socks or slippers, as feet getting cold from lack of movement can be very distracting during journeys.
- A water bottle with a closed lid for water in the meeting room. No other food or drink allowed in the circle.
- Blanket, pillow, or yoga mat if you want to lay down for journeys (optional).
- If you need to stand or stretch during didactic instructions to restore comfort, you are welcome to do so.
- During journeys, initiations and didactic instruction, please try not to leave the meeting room and circle unless it is an emergency.
- We will have frequent brief bio breaks during our sessions, and the restrooms are very close.
- Some light snacks will be available, so please bring favorite snacks if you need them. This work can make people hungry.
- You may bring your own lunch or go out for lunch breaks. We will have kitchen access. You will have ample time to go out for lunch as well.
- The space will be locked by Kerri overnight on Saturday night, so you can leave your items, at your own risk, in the space during that time if desired.
Is there anything I need to do to prepare my body or spirit for this work and for after the workshop?
- Do what you can to be well fed and well rested. This work can be exhausting and work up a hearty appetite, so bring extra snacks along for breaks if that will help. Some will stay overnight Sunday night as well to be rested before returning home.
- Avoid mind-altering recreational substances prior to, during, and at least the day after your workshop. This is considered a substance-free experience.
- Please continue all prescription medications as recommended by your prescribers.
- Make sure you have plenty of time to drive home and consider staying over if you are tired. Be sure that you feel fully grounded and present upon getting in your vehicle to drive. If you do not feel ready to drive, please talk to your facilitator.
- You will be able to ask general questions about the practices covered in the workshop on the Mammoth Hills Practice Better portal to support your integration of the work.
- You can request to attend Kerri’s free monthly journey circle, and/or any other FSS journey circle, to build community and practice.
